Slider-Lazarus-HeadstoneThe Lazarus Ministry at St. Anthony Shrine & Ministry Center provides burials for the homeless and those who die alone, abandoned by their families.  With the assistance of local funeral directors, we provide a proper and dignified burial for many of Boston’s most needy.  We pledge to be there, standing beside the casket of those who have died alone.   In addition, the Shrine provides graves for those who would otherwise be buried in an unmarked pauper’s grave.

In the past we have helped many people of different religions; those who have freshly immigrated to the United States only to die within their first few days in the country, the homeless, those without families, and babies abandoned at birth.  We have also been the sole representatives of homeless Veterans at funerals at the Veterans Cemetery in Bourne.

The Shrine also helps families cope with the death of a loved one.  St. Anthony Shrine is dedicated to the entire person, in death and in life.
