On Wednesday, December 10, 2014, 20 participants within the LGBT community gathered to socialize, have dinner and pray in the Celtic Tradition to the retreat theme of ” Listening for the Heartbeat of God: A Celtic Spiritual Pilgrimage into Advent.” The evening was a deeply moving spiritual experience for those who shared in this prayer-filled time together. We were blessed to have John McDargh, Ph.D of Boston College’s Department of Theology as our presenter. He brought us to the awareness of the Celtic spirituality which offers all of us an ancient and yet fresh way to enter into the saving mystery of God. At the conclusion of the evening after Solemn Vespers, one participant commented that the evening was for her: “Christmas!”. What a wonderful way to enter into this grace filled Season of holiness when God shared life and love with us through Jesus, the simple one who forever changed the face of the world.
