What is a PWA?

A progressive web application (PWA) is a web site that can be downloaded to your device much like an application. The St. Anthony Shrine site has such a function and you can therefore download the site as an application. There are many advantages to this:

• The site is displayed distraction free
• You do not have to remember the URL
• You can access the site by clicking the app icon directly from your device

Installing the St. Anthony Shrine PWA on iOS

A PWA can only be installed on iOS using the Safari browser***. Here are the steps to do it:

• Navigate to https://stanthonyshrine.org
• Press the “Share” button
• Select “Add to Home Screen”
• Tap “Add” in the top right corner to finish installing the PWA

*** Some versions of OS X will allow you to install a PWA by way of the chrome browser. If you would like to use Chrome please use the Desktop instructions below.

Please use the Chrome browser to install the PWA:

• Navigate to the site using Chrome
• Select the three dot menu in the upper right hand corner
• Select “Add To Home Screen”
• Select “Add” button

The PWA is now installed and on your home screen!
