The Rita A. DiMento Women’s Clinic

Women are the most vulnerable of the homeless population in downtown Boston. St. Anthony Shrine recognized the need for a safe, calming, confidential and private environment, separate from any male presence.

The Shrine opened a Women’s Clinic in order to address the complex health care needs of homeless women in our community. We serve many women at the intersection of homelessness, substance use disorder, and exploitation.

The clinic is staffed with medical professionals including a doctor, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, as well as a licensed drug and alcohol counselor and a recovery coach. These professionals work together to create a plan to address, monitor and manage the health care and well-being of each patient.
