St. Anthony Shrine, the Church on Arch Street

St. Anthony Shrine, the “Church on Arch Street,” is a center for Roman Catholic ministry in Boston, Massachusetts, directed by the Franciscan friars of the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The central focus of the Shrine’s ministry has remained constant since 1947: providing a convenient and prayerful setting for people desiring to praise and worship our God – currently through weekend and weekday Masses, as well as an extensive schedule for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Shrine also has a variety of evangelical ministries.

Friar OutreachFriar Outreach 2Inspired by the enduring legacy of St. Francis of Assisi, the friars and the lay people of the Shrine strive to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with all people. We serve as instruments of God’s healing through daily celebrations of the Eucharist and the sacrament of reconciliation. In our preaching, prayers, adult formation, and spiritual counseling, we foster Christian discipleship “in the marketplace” by reaching out and welcoming people to deepen their relationship with God and with one another.

Support Our Work

For more than 800 years, Franciscan Friars have been tending to the poorest of the poor, and the marginalized in our society. At Arch Street, we provide many services, such as: proper and dignified funerals for the homeless and abandoned babies; medical care and comfort for homeless women; the Franciscan Food Center; counseling and recovery services; a monthly luncheon for homeless veterans; and grief support, just to name a few. Please join us in carrying out our mission.
