People come to psychotherapy for a variety of reasons: anxiety, depression, loss, addictions, family crisis, etc…All of these reasons provide us with opportunities to reach inside ourselves and create something new out of our struggles. The goal of all psychotherapy is to foster sustained emotional growth and resolutions to issues that prevent us from enjoying a happy and fulfilled life. At the St. Anthony counseling office, we strive to walk with people in their sorrows and the challenges they face in life.

Types of Therapy we can assist you with:

Couples Counseling:

Couple’s counseling is for couples who are experiencing difficulties such as repetitive arguments, feelings of distance or emptiness in the relationship, pervasive feelings of anger, infidelity, resentment, dissatisfaction in the relationship, or lack of interest in affection or a physical relationship with one another. Our practice is directed towards couples in crisis and those desiring to resolve longstanding relationship issues.

Family Counseling:

Family therapy is based on the belief that the family is a unique social system with its own structure and patterns of communication. During therapy sessions, the family’s strengths are used to help them overcome their problems. The family and one of our therapists set mutual goals and discuss the length of time expected to achieve these goals. Not all members of the family may be required to attend each session but all members must agree to be part in the therapy process.

Individual Counseling:

Individual Therapy involves meeting with a therapist one-on-one for the purpose of reducing internal suffering which occurs in the form of problematic behaviors, beliefs, and feelings, as well as to help manage mental illness and addiction issues. In addition, ongoing therapy is a common and useful means of achieving self-growth and self-actualization.

EMDR:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of any kind of trauma. EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress and reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts. It is the leading psychotherapy protocol for persons who suffer from PTSD.
