It began in 1858, at a grotto near the village of Lourdes in Southwestern France. The Blessed Mother appeared to a young girl named Bernadette Soubirous. Mary helped Bernadette to discover a hidden spring. That spring soon became known as a fountain of hope, faith and healing for millions who visit each year. The church recognizes 66 miraculous cures at the spring and thousands more have been reported. To all who are sick in body or spirit, the Lord brings hope and comfort through Our Lady of Lourdes.
