Prayer Service at 7 pm
Celebrating the transition of St. Francis from death to eternal life.
The Transitus of St. Francis is a solemn annual celebration marking the passing of St. Francis of Assisi from earthly life to eternal life. It is celebrated on the evening of October 3, the eve of his feast day. Franciscan communities worldwide gather for this brief prayer service. We invite you to join us in this 800-year tradition.

Angela Zautcke, PhD is Assistant Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Franciscan School of Theology. She earned a PhD in Christianity and Judaism in Antiquity from the University of Notre Dame and prior to that, a Master of Theological Studies degree from the Franciscan School of Theology. Her research focuses on the New Testament with an emphasis on the Gospels. In her teaching, Dr. Zautcke emphasizes key themes in Scripture like the connection between love of God and love of neighbor and the goodness of creation that are also central to the Franciscan vision.
Fr. Garrett Galvin, OFM was President at the Franciscan School of Theology from 2019 until 2026 where he has taught a variety of courses on the Old and New Testament. He has written two books and is completing his third book as well as a number of articles including chapters on 1 Samuel in the Paulist Biblical Commentary and on 2 Kings in the Jerome Biblical Commentary or the Twenty-First Century.
